HTML List: Ordered List (<ol>)

HTML List: Ordered List (<ol>)

Tutorials > HTML > HTML List Elements

This HTML tag is useful when we need to number or list a series of data.

Let's see an example of an ordered list to know its syntax. We will show the order of arrival of three runners:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

<head>
    <title>Page title</title>
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
</head>

<body>
    <ol>
        <li>Samuel Rossi</li>
        <li>Robort Gabriel</li>
        <li>Lopez Hector</li>
    </ol>
</body>

</html>

The result in the browser is:

HTML ol tag example list - robort

The <ol> tag and its corresponding close tag is </ol>

Inside, each of the items is arranged with the li element, which also has the <li> start tag and the </li> end tag.

The browser is responsible for numbering each of the items contained in the list, keep in mind that they are numbered because it is an ordered list.

To remember the name of these HTML elements:

<ol> comes from the words ordered list

<li> comes from the words list item
