The correct use of anchor texts is a topic of discussion about which one could philosophize for hours on end. In this article, I show which different types of anchors exist, how to use them properly, and what to consider.
What are the anchor texts at all?
In principle, there are four different types of anchor texts that distinguish Google:
- Brand – Company name or brand name or URL (“keywordmonitor.de”)
- Money – Single keyword with high search volume and high CPC (“credit”)
- Compound – composition of several words & keyword (“Finding a suitable credit now”)
- Other – Other search terms: “hier”

Brands are no longer receiving big bonuses, so even smaller sites with high-quality content can reach the top of the SERPs without being stifled by big corporations. This is, in my opinion, a very positive development, as bad websites can not be pushed to the top by permanent keyword anchors, so that good websites would be worse off. In principle, a healthy mixture of the first three anchor texts is probably the most sensible, at least we have made these experiences in recent years. Even if brand anchor texts no longer have foolishness, they are at least not bad and show Google that the domain should have a certain notoriety/authority. Money anchor texts can be used, of course, but you should only very few backlinks with this Anchortexte equip, So as not to slip into a penalty. Compound keywords also make a lot of sense because they offer the possibility to use money keywords in conjunction with other activities without having to risk a penalty from Google. - Compound: 30%

This is, of course, not a success guarantee, which works without any adjustments to any other domain, but this has proved successful for all our projects and customers.
Why do not we use keywords that fall under the “Other” category? Quite simply, they do not say anything at all. If you are completely unimaginative, then you just select a brand text but no “Other”.
