What was the first useful thing you did with Claude?

When I first opened Claude, I typed "hello" and got a polite hello back. Then I closed the tab. It took me a few days to see that the useful part starts when you give it a real job.

Here are the first jobs that worked for the people I've helped:

  1. Fix one email. Paste a rough draft and ask for a friendlier version under 120 words.
  2. Explain one thing you're stuck on, like you're a complete beginner, with one everyday example.
  3. Turn messy notes from a call into a short summary and a to-do list.
  4. Plan a week. Tell it your goal, your free hours, and ask for one small task per day.
  5. Ask it to check its own last answer for anything that might be wrong. That habit alone saves you from a lot of embarrassment.

Two rules from experience: never paste passwords, bank details or private client info, and always check names and numbers before you use an answer.

I put the first-week checklist I give beginners in the attachment, with a ready prompt for each day.

So what was the first useful thing you did with Claude? Tell me the task, what you typed, and whether you'd trust the answer without checking it. If you haven't started yet, tell me the one task you'd hand over first.
