Claude Skills Marketplace: Where to Find and Sell Skills

Share:

There is no single Claude Skills marketplace, so here is where to look, how to stay safe, and what to know before selling.

You search "Claude Skills marketplace" and get a mix of Anthropic pages, GitHub repos, directories and paid shops. It is hard to tell which ones are official, which are safe, and whether you can sell your own Skills at all. This guide sorts that out in plain English: where to find Skills, how to check one before you install it, and what to know if you want to sell your own.

I checked Anthropic's help center and Claude Code documentation on 11 October 2026. Directories change fast, so I link to the official pages for anything that can move.

If Skills are new to you, start with what Claude Skills are. It takes five minutes.

Is there an official Claude Skills marketplace?

Yes, but it is not one single shop. Anthropic has a few places to browse, and each one works a little differently:

Where What it is Who uses it
Directory inside Claude A catalog of Skills, connectors and plugins in Claude.ai and Cowork Everyday Claude users
Claude Marketplace on the web A searchable catalog of plugins with install counts, and some marked "Anthropic verified" Anyone browsing
Plugin marketplaces in Claude Code Catalogs you add with a command, including Anthropic's official and community ones Claude Code users
anthropics/skills on GitHub Anthropic's public repository of example Skills Learners and developers

A plugin is a bundle that can contain Skills and other parts. For this guide, think of it as a package that may carry Skills inside.

How to find Skills inside Claude

According to Anthropic's help article, you open the directory from Claude like this:

  1. Click Customize in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the + button and choose the browse option.
  3. Open the Skills tab and click Install on a Skill.

An installed Skill is added to your list and switched on, so Claude can use it when your task matches. Anthropic notes that installed Skills are read-only. To change one, you download a copy, edit it, and upload it as your own. On Team and Enterprise plans, a Your organization tab shows Skills shared inside your company. If you want the basics of switching Skills on and off, see Anthropic's article on using Skills in Claude, and check my guide on whether Claude AI is free for plan limits.

How to find Skills in Claude Code

In Claude Code, Skills usually arrive inside plugins from a marketplace. Anthropic publishes three:

  • Official (claude-plugins-official): Claude Code adds it for you the first time you start an interactive session. It holds plugins Anthropic maintains, plus plugins from partners and other authors.
  • Community (claude-community): third-party plugins that their authors submitted to Anthropic. You add it yourself with /plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community.
  • Demo (claude-code-plugins): a small set of examples that show what a plugin can contain.

To browse, type /plugin and open the Discover tab. Many popular plugins are in no Anthropic marketplace at all. They sit in their authors' own GitHub repositories, and you add those with /plugin marketplace add owner/repo. Anthropic's documentation says plainly that it does not review third-party marketplaces. If you want the full picture of the options, read Anthropic's page on its marketplaces. And if you are still deciding between tools, my guide to Claude Cowork vs Claude Code can help.

Third-party directories and shops

Beyond Anthropic, there are community directories, GitHub collections and paid shops. Some are useful. None is checked by Anthropic. Treat them as a place to discover Skills, then check each one yourself using the steps below. I have not tested every directory, so do not assume a high download count or a nice-looking page means a Skill is safe.

How to check a Skill before you install it

A Skill is not just text. Anthropic's Claude Code documentation says a plugin can run code on your machine, and its trust warning reads: "Make sure you trust a plugin before installing, updating, or using it." In Claude.ai, Anthropic's help article names prompt injection and data exfiltration (a Skill quietly sending your data somewhere) as the biggest risks, and tells you to install Skills only from trusted sources.

Run through this list every time:

  1. Read the SKILL.md file. Does it do what the description says, and only that?
  2. Open every other file in the folder. Scripts and extra files are where surprises hide.
  3. Look for network calls. Anthropic says to look for instructions that connect to outside networks.
  4. Look for requests for secrets. A Skill that asks for passwords or API keys is a red flag.
  5. Check who made it. A real profile, a history of updates and a license are good signs.
  6. Check the license. Know whether you may use it, change it, or share it.
  7. Test it on something harmless first. Use made-up data, not your real client files.

Can you sell Claude Skills?

Selling your own original Skills is possible, but be careful and realistic. Here is what I found:

  • Anthropic's directory. Anthropic's documentation describes how to submit a plugin to its directory: you need a GitHub repository and a paid Claude plan, and you submit from the developer portal. I did not find a page that sets up payments or paid listings there, so do not assume you can charge through it.
  • Your own marketplace. Anyone can publish a marketplace as a GitHub repository with a .claude-plugin/marketplace.json file, with no form to fill in. That is a way to share Skills, not a payment system.
  • Third-party marketplaces. Some shops let creators sell Skills. For example, Agensi's creator guide says creators keep 70% of each sale, are paid through Stripe Connect, and that submissions get an automated scan and a manual review. Those are the shop's own claims, so read the current terms before you sign up.
  • Your own store. You can sell a Skill file or a Skill bundle as a download on a platform like Gumroad. Check the platform's rules first.

Anthropic's pages I read do not say you may not sell your own original Skills, and they do not set up a way to do it either. Read Anthropic's current terms and the rules of wherever you sell.

Before you sell a Skill

A few things separate a Skill worth paying for from a text file anyone can copy:

  1. Sell only what you made. Do not resell other people's Skills. Open-source licenses differ, and some Skills are source-available but not open source. If you build on someone else's work, follow its license and credit them.
  2. Solve one specific job. "Turn meeting notes into a summary with action items" sells better than "do everything with documents."
  3. Test it in every place you claim it works. A Skill you add in Claude.ai does not copy itself into Claude Code, so test each one.
  4. Add what a file cannot copy. A short guide, examples, updates and honest support are worth more than the file alone, because the file itself is easy to share.
  5. Never put secrets inside. No passwords, keys or private client details.
  6. Do not overpromise. Describe what the Skill does. Do not promise income or results.

If you have never built one, my free Claude Skills Marketplace Checklist below includes a listing template. For ideas on packaging and selling downloads, see my guide on selling digital products with Claude.

One last note: Skills are files. They are not Claude accounts, credits or API keys, and you should never sell access to any of those.
